L'Oréal Paris Glam Shine Balmy Gloss

Up until now, L'Oréal Paris didn't have a chunky lip crayon style product in their range unlike most other brands these days. I've seen this Glam Shine Balmy Gloss range sneak up on a handful of blogs lately but there hasn't been any advertising regarding this product so I'd been looking forward to spotting it in the shops myself. The last few times I've been in Boots, I've only seen an orange shade with no testers. I decided to look in Superdrug and managed to find the full range of six in there, still with no testers but I knew I was going to pick the colours I most liked the look of anyway. Since there was a 3 for 2 deal on, I narrowed my choices to three and I chose Sin for Peach (912), Dare the Dragonfruit (913) and Fall for Watermelon (914).

I quite like the range of colours and £6.99 is the average price for this type of product from a drugstore brand so I was happy to pay that. First of all, I thought I'd mention that there is no added scent to this product so if you're not a fan of a minty or vanilla scent, this may be suitable for you.

The application of this product is an absolute dream. They aren't lying when they use the words 'shine' and 'gloss'. These glide on so easily with a butter-like texture and melt on to the lips. They feel really balmy, as it says in the name, and they don't feel sticky or overly wet. You can apply them sheerly or if you fancy a bolder look, keep swiping over the lips to build up the intensity.

The shades I have, all have an element of shimmer to them with the Fall for Watermelon shade having the least and looks like a juicy pinky-red colour. The Dare the Dragonfruit shade has a lot of shimmer in several tones such as blue, green and purple with a berry shade as the main base colour. This looks really pretty but it's more of a night time product for that reason. Sin for Peach is a nude pink sort of shade that is fairly natural with a slight pink and silver shimmer to it. It's definitely wearable for the daytime though.

I'm really impressed with this product and I love the finish and balmy texture. I'm quite tempted to swatch the others when I see some testers in store as it wouldn't hurt to add a few more to the collection! All of the shades are available on the Boots website here if you fancy a little sneaky online purchase.

  8. I wonder if they have these in the States... I can't remember seeing them or not. I love Sin for Peach on you! I have a few of the Revlon ones but they smell like mint. It's not that it's a bad smell, I just wish it was fragrance free. I'll have to keep my eyes open for these.

  10. Beautiful colors! They look good on you. Do they stain the lips? How many hours did the colors last?
