Lovin' Essie Nail Polish

This week I've bought two new Essie nail polishes and I've been absolutely loving them! They are both from the diffusion line and I really like the brushes as they make it so easy to apply the polish. The end result is a streak-free perfect application on the nail.

The first polish I bought this week was Bikini So Teeny after seeing so many bloggers raving about this. It's a gorgeous cornflower blue with a slight shimmer to it but the shimmer isn't massively visible on the nails.

I applied two coats for a beautiful opaque finish and I was well impressed with this shade. I wore this for 3 and a half days this week and couldn't stop looking down at my nails! I don't tend to wear base/top coats so my polishes often chip really quickly but this one was really long lasting. For the first 2 days there was no chipping at all. Even when I went to remove this, there was only a small amount of wear at the tips of my nails.

The second polish is Penny Talk, which I bought from Alice's Blog Sale for a very good price and it arrived super fast and in perfect condition. I would definitely check out her sale as she always has lots of fab things to buy!

This is a gorgeous rose gold/copper colour, which is a shade I've been after for a while and almost bought one from Topshop the other week. I'm so glad I held off as this Essie polish is amazing. I only had to apply one coat for an opaque finish and it leaves your nails shiny but not super glossy. I really like the effect. My camera isn't really showing the true colour or finish to be honest so I'd take a look at this colour as this is closer to how it looks on the nail.

What are your favourite Essie nail polish shades? I think I need to build up my Essie collection and Mint Candy Apple may be the next on my list...

17 Get Bronzed Free Gift

Last weekend I saw an offer in Boots where you get a free Get Bronzed set when you spend £5.99 or more on 17 cosmetics. I'm not sure how long this offer is on for but it's still on the website and I saw it in-store today.

I fancied a new mascara and after getting such good results with the 17 Peep Show mascara, I decided to try another 17 one. This time I chose the Blow Out mascara which was £6.29 so I got the free gift.

This is quite a generous free gift for only having to spend £5.99. You get an eyeshadow in the shade "Statuesque", an Ultimate Volume lipgloss in the shade "In the nude" and a Bronzed Cream Blush.

My favourite item is the eyeshadow. It's a gorgeous metallic nude that reminded me of the shade "Toasted" in the Urban Decay Naked palette. When I compared them "Toasted" is more brown based whereas "Statuesque" seems a little more pinky. I really like this though so I'll definitely be using it.

The lipgloss is a shimmery nude shade and I like it as it's not a colour I would have chosen for myself so it adds a little variety to the numerous pink glosses I own!

I'm not really a bronzer type of girl as I'm so pale it normally looks a bit dirty on my face but I like the cream aspect of this product. I haven't tried it on my face yet but I'll certainly give it a go to see what it's like.

L-R: 17 "Statuesque" eyeshadow, 17 Ultimate Volume lipgloss "In the Nude", 17 Bronzed Cream Blush
Have you picked up this freebie? What do you think?

Current Favourites

I meant to do a July Favourites post but I never got round to it so decided to do a "Current Favourites" instead!

My brother bought me a set of The Body Shop Strawberry goodies for my birthday and I loved it so much it made me splash out on some more products. Just thought I better explain why most of my favourites are from one place!

The Body Shop - Strawberry Body Butter

I don't moisturise my body as often as I should but since owning this product I've definitely been moisturising more as it's such a pleasure to use. I love the scent (and taste!) of strawberries so I absolutely love the smell of this. This may sound a little strange but it smells a bit like Calpol, which makes me love it even more as I loved the taste of Calpol when I was little! This body butter is for "normal skin" so it may not provide enough moisture if you have severely dry skin but it certainly leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished. It sinks in quickly too so none of that icky sticky feeling with this!

The Body Shop - Strawberry Body Polish

I love this body polish as it's like a cleanser and exfoliator in one. It foams up if you use it with a shower scrunchy but it also has lots of fantastic scrubby bits in too made up of large seeds and smaller salt sized granules. It leaves your skin feeling smooth, not sore and it's gentle enough to use daily. It smells lovely too.

The Body Shop - Strawberry Shower Gel

Again, this product smells gorgeous but it's also really enjoyable to use. It's quite a thick gel that produces a lot of lather, leaving your body feeling super clean. It also feels kind to the skin and doesn't leave my skin dry after use. This is a repurchase after I used the bottle from the set I mentioned earlier! As well as buying the strawberry one, I went for Cocoa Butter, Mango and Sweet Lemon and can confirm these are all amazing too.

The Body Shop - Mango Body Mist

This body mist will leave you smelling irresistible! Honestly, it's so fruity and delicious I've actually been skipping wearing perfume most of the time which I never do! The scent is quite long lasting and it's nice and cooling on the skin, perfect for the summer weather.

The Body Shop - Strawberry Beautifying Oil

The description on the bottle says the oil is suitable for hair, face and body but I've only tried it on my body. First of all, yes, it's strawberry so I'm going to say it smells amazing and secondly, wow! I really, really like this! It's a dry oil so you only have to rub it for a few seconds and it sinks into the skin and isn't greasy! I was pleasantly surprised about that. It does a great job at moisturising the skin too. I've loved alternating between the body butter and this product. It makes the tedious process (for me) of body moisturising a more enjoyable one.

The Body Shop - Peppermint Smoothing Pumice Foot Scrub

Apologies for talking about feet, but... I've started playing badminton once a week and I've found my feet getting a bit dry after a good session so I decided to try these two products. This scrub is a real heavy duty exfoliator for the feet with a load of big scrubby bits in to slough away all of that nasty dead skin. This does wonders even after one use. I use it in the bath and step out with much softer feet. It is very minty and smells like toothpaste but I like that as you want your feet to smell fresh don't you?

The Body Shop - Peppermint Intensive Foot Rescue

This is a lovely thick, minty moisturiser for your tootsies that works perfectly in combination with the scrub. It definitely does a better job than just using a regular body moisturiser which I find don't sink into the skin on the bottom of my foot as well as this.

Tangle Teezer

I'd been after this for a long time but for some reason was being a bit stingy and thought £10.99 seemed a bit expensive for this. Well, I was totally wrong, it's worth every single penny! This works so well on just washed hair. It really does brush through tangled hair easily and without pain! Every woman should own one of these.

Ralph Lauren - Big Pony Collection for Women 2

This perfume is from a new collection released a few months ago containing 4 different fragrances. I went for the pink, girly, sweet one - number 2 and it's my usual type of fragrance. I pretty much always go for super sweet scents. So when I haven't been wearing my mango body mist, I've been wearing this. I quite like number 4 as well, the purple bottle but I probably won't buy it.

Hope you enjoyed my favourites. What products have you been loving lately? Feel free to post your links :)

John Frieda Step-By-Step Guides Part 2

I've got two more John Frieda videos to share with you today to follow on from my post earlier in the week.

I really like these videos as they are quite short at around 3 minutes but they tell you exactly how to create the hairstyle in easy to follow steps.

The first video shows you how to achieve the perfect straight blow dry. It's great as it shows you how to get lovely straight, shiny hair without it looking flat and stuck to your head! Jake Davis also explains which products to use along with the best brush to use and which section of your hair to start with.

The second video shows how to evolve the blow-dried style into a glamourous topknot. This look features a hair doughnut which is a product I've always been curious about but I've never really known how to use them! I'm definitely going to try this look as it looks so easy to do.

Let me know your thoughts on these videos. Are you going to try these looks?

John Frieda Step-By-Step Guides

Today I would like to share some John Frieda videos with you all. I don't know about you but I'm not very creative at thinking up hairstyles and I find it hard to copy off pictures in magazines. This is where these step-by-step tutorials come in very useful as they guide you through creating a fab hairstyle.

Lately I've been using lots of volumising products to stop my fine hair looking flat. John Frieda have a great range of products called Full Repair which are great for achieving a full bodied look as shown in the videos featuring Giles Robinson below.

The first video shows you how to achieve a full body blow dry. There are some great tips in here so it's definitely worth a watch:

The next video shows a glamourous beehive hairstyle which would look amazing for a special occasion:

I think it's great that John Frieda have come up with a range of products that allow you to create a gorgeous volumised look as well as protecting from heat damage.

Let me know what you think of these videos. Will you be trying out these looks?
