October Favourites

Hey everyone. Hope you've had a great weekend :) Glad it's not quite over yet! After seeing a few favourite videos/posts pop up today I thought I'd do my own.

Hair Care

I've been loving this banana shampoo and conditioner from The Body Shop. I adore the scent of banana so using this on my hair has been a real treat. It also seems to make my hair super soft which I didn't expect.

Fragrance

I own quite a few perfumes but after purchasing this on my last pay day I've hardly worn anything else. I just LOVE Prada Candy. I'm so pleased I bought it as it's perfect for me. It's so sweet yet still manages to be sophisticated and grown up at the same time. The bottle is pretty too. I've been using the Candy Shower Gel I got in the gift set with the perfume and that's great too. It feels quite luxurious to use and the bottle is so cute!

Make Up

One of these items is a product that regularly appears on monthly favourites and that's the Urban Decay Naked Palette. I've hardly used this palette to be honest, even though I love it so much. I think my main problem is because I keep it in it's plastic packaging so it feels like a chore to get out so I stick to my Pixi palette from my September favourites. I'm going to make a real effort to get more use out of the Naked palette now though. I used this for a night out and I fell back in love with it so I'm looking forward to seeing what looks I can create with it as I have a few more nights out coming up soon.

A couple of other products I use for nights out are these Too Faced products - Pink Leopard Bronzing Powder and Absolutely Invisible Translucent Pressed Powder. I hadn't used Pink Leopard for ages but I rediscovered this recently and love the pink glow it gives to the cheeks. It's ideal for pale skinned girlies like me as it doesn't look muddy! I've been using the pressed powder for every night out for a long time now and it's great at setting my foundation and getting rid of any last traces of shine. As much as I love this, I am rather tempted to try MAC Skinfinish Natural so may have to swatch that next time I'm near a MAC counter.

The two nail polishes I really liked this month are Zoya in Marina and Models Own in Top Turquoise. They are both great quality polishes that look opaque in one coat. I've particularly enjoyed using these colours as they make a great change compared to my usual pink/purple nails!

Skin / Hand Care

I'll start with the Elemis skin care products. The last few weeks I've been using Papaya Enzyme Peel and Exotic Cream Moisturising mask as a weekly treat for my skin. I smooth on Papaya Enzyme Peel for 15 minutes to exfoliate my skin then after rinsing that off I slather on a nice layer of the Exotic Cream Moisturing Mask. I've been leaving this on for a few hours to give my skin a moisture boost. The packaging says you can leave it on overnight if you want so it's perfectly fine to leave it on for hours! My skin is so soft after using this combo and it feels like a really good treat since Elemis is a spa brand. I guess it's the next best thing to having a facial. That's what I tell myself anyway... hehe. The Pro Collagen Marine Cream is a 15ml sample size I got in an Elemis Anti Ageing set. I tend to use this as a night moisturiser (when I actually remember to moisturise at night - oops!). I'm trying to make it last as it's quite expensive to repurchase! You only need a tiny amount for your whole face and it really feels like the good quality ingredients are doing great stuff for my skin. I love buying skin care products and I have a load of Liz Earle stuff coming for Christmas which I'm quite excited about!

The last item is a L'Occitane Shea Butter hand cream. It's a limited edition version in the scent Cocoa Flower which I got free in the October Marie Claire magazine. I thought this was a great deal as the hand cream would be £7.50 to purchase from L'Occitane. I really enjoy using L'occitane hand creams, especially the shea butter ones as they are so thick and really moisturise your hands but don't leave them greasy.

Hope you've enjoyed reading my favourites and it hasn't been too rambly! Please feel free to send me links to your favourites as I always enjoy reading them.

NYX Glitterati Glitter Cream Pallet = WOW

I popped into River Island today for a quick look around and boy I'm glad I did!! Look at this little beauty:

This is the first time I've seen NYX in the shops so that in itself was amazing but these Glitter Creams are so pretty and I don't (or should I say didn't!) own anything like these. They were only £14.00 so I think that's a great price.

I love all of the colours and one of them even looks like an eye cream version of Models Own Juicy Jules which I love!

I haven't even broken the seal on these bad boys yet as I want them to stay new for a teeny bit longer so I can't comment on how opaque they are but I'm sure they are great.

On the back of the palette it mentions that you can use them to sparkle up your face, body and hair which is quite mad, imagine putting the glitter in your hair but you never know, people may want to do that for a wild night out or for Christmas or something so they are versatile :)

So you know what you need to do..get to River Island now!

Hope you've had a lovely weekend,

Sleek Pout Polish and Pout Paint

My most read post is my Sleek Purchases one that featured Sleek Pout Polish in Peach Perfection and Sleek Pout Paint in Milkshake.

The original post only contains photos of the products in their packaging and swatches on my hand so I thought I'd do an update with proper lip swatches as I imagine that's what most people will be looking for.

Ideally I would have done my whole face so I could show the full effect but it's Friday night and I'm full of takeaway so hopefully just the lips will do!

No product on

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Lip Swatches - Urban Decay, Burts Bees and Boots 17

I had a second day of shopping on Sunday and just as I was about to go home I thought I'd pop in Debenhams. I ended up treating myself to a few lip products that I've been wanting to try for a while.

I've included some lip swatches in this post so here are my lips without any product on so you can see the difference:

First up we have the Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom. This was £5.99 so a few pounds more expensive than their regular lip balms but it's definately worth it. It glides on nice and smoothly and deposits a lovely wash of colour on the lips. It's not very pigmented but that's fine because I wasn't expecting that. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Secondly I bought the Urban Decay Stardust Sparkling Lip Gloss in Glitter Rock for £14.00. I couldn't believe my eyes when I finally saw this lip gloss as I saw it on some blogs ages ago. There were a few shades I liked but I decided to go for pink since it's what I'm most likely to wear on a night out. This lip gloss is very glittery/shimmery but you can't feel any glitter on your lips, it's a very fine shimmer. I don't even think my lip swatch does the product justice as there is so much more shimmer and it's more pink. I love this lip gloss, it's not sticky on the lips either. An extra thing to note about this product is that it has a minty scent which I quite like as it's different to anything else I have.

Here are some hand swatches. Stardust on top and Burt's Bees below:

Whilst I was trying these products I thought I'd try on the lipgloss I got in the 17 Femme Noir set I got free on Saturday with my two 17 purchases. Here is the full post in case you want to see what else I got.

This lipgloss is quite nice. It's not sticky and it feels nice on the lips but I don't think I'd be brave enough to wear this colour outside! It's a good freebie though.

Has anyone tried any of the other shades of the Burt's Bees lip balm or the Urban Decay Stardust? Send links of any swatches you have as I'd love to purchase some more :)

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream

Last month I posted about the free samples Garnier were giving away. Mine arrived last weekend and I finally got round to trying it last night.

You get three sachets of the product. I opted for the light shade since I am super pale!

I took some pictures so you can see the difference. Here is my before pic:

And here are the photos with the product on:

The product is quite good. It does even out the skintone and it does seem to "blur" my blemishes but they are still visible. It does seem to clear up some of the redness around my nose so I like that. The product does look quite shiny/greasy on my skin but I took these photos straight after application so I guess the product may soak into the skin more and become less shiny. I do like this product more than I thought I would but I would not purchase it as I feel even the light shade is a little dark for my skin. If they did a lighter shade - "fair" perhaps, then I would be more likely to purchase this.

Hope this was helpful,

Quick 17 Wild Metallic Eyes Update

I'm thinking this product was actually a really good find. I decided to whip off the plastic wrapper to see what it was like inside and it does look a bit like the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow. It feels kind of like a mousse but kind of like a cream. It feels like a nice texture anyway!

Here's a quick swatch. Sorry it's not very good, I couldn't really get the camera to pick it up very well. Basically it's more concentrated at the left but blended out more to the right.

So this is the Wild Nude shade but I definately saw another shade called Wild Bronze. Don't think there were anymore though.

Bye for now,
Suzy

Today's Makeup Purchases

Hi there. Just thought I'd show you the makeup I bought today. I didn't set out to buy any makeup but most of the time I never do... oops!

Boots 17 had a promotion on where you buy two 17 products and get this Femme Noir set for free.

The free gift consists of Ultimate Volume Lipgloss in Very Berry, Glitter Eyeshadow in Night Sky and Liquid Liner in Black. These individual items would have cost more than the products I paid for so I got quite a bit for my money today. I love a good freebie. Here's a closer look at the products from the set:

Onto the products that I bought to get the freebie... I found this Wild Metallic Eyes pot in Wild Nude which looks like that new Chanel Eye Cream everyone is raving about so I felt like I had to buy it since I don't fancy splashing out on the Chanel one. I didn't see any testers for this so I haven't actually tried the product yet but I'm sure it will be nice.

The other 17 product I bought was the trio of eyeshadows in Broken Hearted. Two shimmery green shades and a silver. I fancied experimenting with a nice green eye look as I think it will go well with my green eyes so hopefully I'll get round to trying that soon.

Whilst I was in Boots I had a few £5 No7 vouchers to use up so I got two Metallic Eye Pencils in Green and Purple. I'm a bit bored of buying nail polish now so thought I'd get something fun!

Finally when I was in H&M buying a winter coat and some work clothes I spotted the 99p lipgloss at the till and had to have it. It's a gorgeous shimmery nude colour that would look good for a night out.

Hope you've been buying some nice things too. Feel free to send me any links to your hauls.

September Favourites

So here are the products I was loving in September. A couple of these items were new purchases in September but most of them I had already. Here are my favourites at a glance:

I will talk about my skincare faves first. The Elemis Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser was bought as a set from Debenhams which was great value for £49 but had a value of double that amount. Elemis products are quite expensive but they do some great value sets in the shops and on QVC. I love watching Elemis on QVC but it makes me want everything! Anyway...back to the cleanser! I've tried one other hot cloth cream cleanser and that was Boots No7. I can't say I was that impressed with it and I got bored of it after a few weeks. This one is amazing though. It smells quite herbally but not unpleasant. The results are great though. It keeps my skin soft and free from flakes! Often cleansers dry my skin out so much it feels uncomfortable if I don't moisturise immediately afterwards. This one keeps my skin nice and balanced though. The Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner also came in the set for £49 and it's something I've bought before. It's really nice as it's not harsh on the skin so you don't feel like you're stripping the moisture away. It's just a lovely step before adding moisturiser. It smells lovely too, exactly like apricots. My final skincare product is the Lush Tea Tree Water which I used for a week or so as a toner when I had some bad spots on my chin. I also love the smell of this one and it's great just to keep putting onto your skin whenever you feel like it as it doesn't contain lots of nasty chemicals.

I bought the Original Source Shower Cream in Vanilla Milk and Raspberry on a whim in Boots as it was only a pound. This smells soooo good. Honestly it's like strawberry milkshake, I often wish I could drink it! Don't think it would taste very nice though... haha. It's moisturising on the skin which is always great in a shower gel and the scent does linger on the skin for a while after using it so that's another good point. The Lee Stafford Argan Oil Miracle Heat Defence Spray is my first venture into Argan Oil hair products. I'd seen the products in Boots for a while and fancied giving them a go and thought why not when it was 3 for 2. This product can be used on wet hair before blow drying then on dry hair before using straighteners/tongs/etc. I like it as it doesn't make your hair greasy when using it and it smells quite nice too. I find it does make my hair looks quite shiny as well. It's a nice change from using the Toni & Guy one I've used for years!

On to make up products now. I love this Benefit lipgloss I got in my Her Name Was Glowla set last Christmas. (I really want some of this years gift sets now too - really good value!) The lipgloss wasn't limited edition or anything so it can be bought for £14.00 on it's own. I just love the colour as it's a shimmery pinky nude - perfect for a night out. The packaging is thick plastic and looks luxurious. I love pretty packaging! The actual lipgloss is perfect though as it isn't sticky and yet again it has a lovely smell. I'm also loving the Daniel Sandler Baby Jet mascara I got in my August GlossyBox. It has a really thin brush which I think is amazing at coating and separately all of my lashes. It doesn't go clumpy either which is great! Another favourite is the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer. I kept seeing this on lots of blogs so decided I had to have some for myself as I hate the dark circles under my eyes. This is a great full coverage concealer that has a very light shade perfect for my skin tone. I wouldn't say it fully covers my circles as I don't think anything will but it's certainly one of the best concealers I've tried and it was less than a fiver so I think that's brilliant.

The last item on my list is this Pixi Wakeup Kit. I don't think you can buy this set anymore as I got it last year or the year before. It was around £25 I think. It's great as it contains concealers, eyeshadows, lipglosses and blush/highlighers. I never really use the bottom layer that contains the lipglosses and blushes as I don't really like the kind of lipglosses that come in a palette where u need to swirl your finger or brush in it. They are really nice colours though. Anyway, what I use this for is my everyday eyeshadows. As you can see there are 3 that I use a lot. They are all quite natural peachy or brown shimmery shades that I can just effortlessly apply in the morning before work as I don't bother doing any fancy blending.

Excuse the greasy parts around the concealer where I swatched them! I don't actually use these.

Hope this wasn't too boring to read! Send me links to your favourites as I love reading/watching that sort of thing :)

Thanks for reading,
Suzy

Payday Purchases

Wow It's October the 1st already, can you believe it? It's getting exciting now, getting closer to Christmas! I've started seeing all the lovely gift sets in the shops. I've got my eye on a few of the Benefit ones for myself ;)

Anyway, another exciting thing is payday, which for me was yesterday, woohoo! For the last few months I've been wanting or should I say NEEDING Prada Candy. Every magazine I've bought has had an advert for it, every time I walk into a department store or Boots I've seen a big display for it and I just had to spray some on. It's quite expensive at £40 for 30ml, £53 for 50ml and £71 for 80ml. However it is Prada and gorgeous so I think it's worth it :D Now that those Christmas perfume sets are out and I spotted the Prada Candy version it became even more enticing! So yesterday I decided to part with my hard earned cash and buy the gift set for £55 in Debenhams. I had £10 on my beauty card so I asked to use this towards the gift set and the lady informed me that I now had £20 so even better! It really was meant to be!

The gift set comes with a body lotion and shower gel, both 75ml. I love the brand packaging and the design of the bottle. It looks classy and expensive. I'm not the best at describing scents but it's quite sweet. It's like vanilla and caramel. I love my sweet scents but sometimes they can smell a little cheap which I don't mind but this one smells more expensive and luxurious. I can't wait to wear some tonight when I go out for a nice meal and some cocktails.

The other product I bought yesterday was a Philosophy Shower Gel. I've been dying to buy one for a while as I've never had a full size one before, just smaller ones from gift sets. This one is called Gingerbread Girl and is 480ml. It costs £14.00 which is quite expensive for a shower gel but it's worth it as Philosophy Shower Gels smell devine and are very long lasting! How gorgeous does it look?! I love the shimmery effect and I love the scent of ginger as well. I spied another Christmas gift I quite fancy as well that contains 3 miniature shower gels which I think I will have to purchase!

So have you had any payday splurges? Have you got your eye on any of the Christmas gifts? Let me know! Maybe I will have more things to add to my wish list...
